Charcoal Grey Turkish Cotton Robe

Our beach towels are made from 100% Aegean Turkish cotton, the original beach towel fabric, perfected by the Turkish hammam tradition over centuries before terry towelling existed. Grown in the Aegean region of Turkey where the climate produces the longest, strongest cotton fibres in the world, then woven in the traditional hammam style: lighter, flatter, and faster-drying than standard beach towels. They absorb everything you need them to, dry quickly so they don't sit damp in the beach bag, pack flatter than terry so you actually have room for the kids' snacks, and get softer with every wash instead of fraying. The towel you reach for first, not the one that ends up forgotten in the boot.

Sustainability

Sandbar started in swimwear, where the dirty secret is most of it is made from virgin plastic. Cotton towels carry their own version of that problem. Conventional cotton is one of the most water and pesticide intensive crops on the planet. Aegean Turkish cotton is grown in a region with naturally fertile soil and rainfall patterns that mean less irrigation, less intervention, and a smaller footprint than mass-produced cotton from elsewhere. Every Sandbar order also funds the removal of 1kg of ocean plastic through our Seven Clean Seas partnership. We are not pretending it solves the whole problem. We are saying it's a better starting point than the alternative.
